Photoshoot Guide & Tips

To help you prepare for your pregnancy session with your partner, we've put together a guide and some tips for you to read over. Remember, there's no need to stress—my goal is to capture the real and authentic connection you share during the time you share with your children and I will help guide and direct for you to feel relaxed and yourselves during your session!

Mum Tips

Fill out the questionnaire - this will help ensure the best results possible.

Outfits - Choose what you feel most comfortable in and is most YOU! Clothing - Wear clothes that require minimal fiddling or adjusting, and ensure there are no tags hanging out.

Accessories - If you have jewellry, consider wearing it as it can add detail to the images.

Most Important - Parents to smile, play & laugh as much as possible (talk to/control the children less)

  • If your kids are messing around let them go for a bit and just smile, these images can be the best as we capture the kids in their most candid natural environment while parents are smiling, laughing or looking away!

Children & Weather Tips

  • Bring child's favourite toy / comforters to the session
  • Remember to bring snacks and water
  • Bring wipes / tissues for wiping mouths and nose if needed after eating/running noses.
  • Hair ties for longer hair or hair clips to avoid the hair falling in front of their face.

Colder weather

  • Winds: Please bring hair ties and be prepared to put your hair up or back if the winds aren’t in our favour.
  • Warm Clothing: Bring warm clothing for before and after the session. For beach shoots, especially at sunrise, consider bringing warm footwear like Ugg boots, as the sand can be very cold.
  • Bring beanies for your children if they don't like the wind. The wind can irritate the kids ears and cause discomfort.

When booking:

  • Think about their meal and sleep times.
  • Try to avoid booking sunset sessions on daycare days in summer!

Partner posing tips

Most Important - Parents to smile, play & laugh as much as possible (and talk/control children less)

  • If your kids are messing around let them go for a bit and just smile, these images can be the best as capture the kids in their most candid natural environment.

Where to Look: I will guide you on where to look, whether it’s at the kids, at your partner or at the camera.

  • Candid images: Look away at children for a natural feel.
  • Posed images: Look at the camera or towards each other.

What to Do with Hands:

  • In your pockets
  • On your knees or legs while sitting
  • Around your partner while cuddling and standing
  • Partners: Hold your partner's face or touch the partners hair.

Partners: Share your vision with him—let him know the poses you’d like him to do and how you want to be held and looked at. Also, gently communicate what you’d prefer him not to do.
